In praise of plants
A world stripped of plants is a dead world. A city can be a dead world,
emptied of diversity and life. To live in a world where a tree is considered a potential
hazard and is therefore removed, is not to live in a world at all. I choose to live in the
forests of this world, for I love plants, and there is no place more alive than a jungle.
I really do have an inordinate fondness for trees.
Flowers are pretty, but they are in all reality, nothing but very colorful sex organs.
The whole plant is a fascinating biological entity, which lives, struggles, grows and reproduces
just like the rest of us do. When I take photos of just flowers, I always chuckle.
What would people think of a photograph of a lion's penis or an antelope's vagina?
But then again, plants reproductive organs really can be quite astoundingly beautiful.
